The Eastwood Baptist Church began as a mission of the Westview Baptist Church in December of 1961, with 58 charter members. There are six charter members that still attend Eastwood. They are Lena Bruce, Louise Hunter, Betty Hunter, Woodrow Jackson, Jewell Jones, and Virginia Randolph. Brother Clarence Phillips was the first pastor of the mission. On December 17, 1961, the mission was organized into Eastwood Baptist Church. The services were held in the old Whitsom Chapel School building; then in the annex of the present building.
A parsonage was built in December of 1966, and a church auditorium was constructed beginning in July of 1968 and completed on January 15, 1969, with a membership of 153.

The word 'history' comes from using the two words 'his story' together.
